my much-travelled (therefore much-wise) dad once told me "no matter where you go, people are essentially the same." obviously, i wasn't particularly impressed with my dad's idea of passing on his wisdom to me. in fact i thought daddy wasn't very wise at all.
but then i left home and moved to another country - a really cosmopolitan country where i have met people from nationalities i didn't know existed. and i realised that my adulation of daddy dearest wasn't misplaced after all. and i now proudly proclaim:
- the clown: the nice guy who makes everyone laugh.
- the free spirit: the hippie who lives his/ her life exactly the way he/ she wants to and doesn't give a f*** about what anyone else thinks.
- the workaholic: the person whose whole life is all about work even though it doesn't have to be.
- the shrewd businessman: who doesn't think about anything but money.
- the racist/bigot: not just white supremacists, but people who are obsessed with their religion and their nationality.
- the controlling, insecure boyfriend: who does what he feels like but also makes sure his girlfriend does what he feels like.
- the spineless girlfriend: the girlfriend of the aforementioned boyfriend who fawns over him like he's a prize catch and does whatever he feels like, and feels the need to seek his permission for everything.
- the Peter Pan: and i mean this in the (not) nicest way!; the middle-aged guy who doesn't realise he's growing old and still wants to pick up!
- the geek: whose life revolves around academics. very few here honestly; probably replaced by the workaholic.
- the independent woman: who has the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect car, the perfect figure, the perfect clothes, but the not-so-perfect love life.
- the ignoramus: who thinks the whole world works exactly the way he looks at it.
- the judgmental asshole: who (apparently) stands on a moral pedestal and believes it to be his prerogative to decide whether people are leading their lives the 'right' way.
- the narcissist: who thinks the world revolves around him.
- the creative cookie: who is a numbskull with everything ordinary.
- the dumb blonde: who is nothing but. (trust me there's lots of those here!)
- the obsessive mum: who has to know everything about her kid's life.
- the animal lover: who will buy a house just so he/ she doesn't need permission to have pets.
- the sports fanatic: who not only watches every sport but plays them too.
- the happy couple: who are normal and balanced, and support, encourage each other. (and are less dysfunctional than most of the people on my list!)
- the sneaky ambitious b****h: who will do anything it takes to take the credit and jump on to the good-books wagon.
ok. the dumb blonde is talking non-stop in the next room and interrupting my chain of thought therefore i shall end here. though this by no means, means that these are the only types of people i know.
feel free to add to my list though. :)

Im the Peter Pan...defintely!!!
eww..that would make you very sleazy and make me wanna stop all association!!
whr's the 'incredibly bored'? lovely they are! ;)
I like to think I am the Free Spirit. I used to be the Spineless Girlfriend, but not anymore. I occasionally act like a Dumb Blonde (more than occasionally actually). And I am definitely the Animal Lover.
You could've included the Prophet of Doom: Constantly looking for the sky to fall on everybody's head even if it has been glued on with Fevicol.
i think i'm a bit of the hippie and the spineless girlfriend and the peterpan and the geek and sooooo the perfectwoman and erm, the ignoramus and the narcissist and awlso the judgemental asshole... and, umm, prolly not the dumbblond. whoknows?
@lara: thank you. i guess i forgot to include myself. ;-)
@poojo: yesyes. the doomsday prophecist (spelling?) is quite the pain.
@quiet: i think we're all little bits of many or we'd just end up being one of these types. :)
There should be a category in there called The Clueless...there'd be a lot of people in it.
@nisha: damn! how could i forget that one!
