this is ze life!

he looks at me with those melting eyes pleading me to give him a bowl of 'Pedi' - his evening snack. for the uninitiated - Pedi is simply short for Pedigree dog food. my dog - jingle a.k.a. jingu a.ka. jinks (he's got more aliases than even the most dangerous criminal), is a paati bangaali kukur who has mangsho bhaat for his meals alternated with doi bhaat(yes, im not kidding!). hence, bit sized, chicken-flavoured horribly smelly(no jinks, they taste lovely!) dog food is not exactly his idea of a meal - but a snack.
as i make a move towards the table, i notice his eyes following me. he looks at me reaching out for the dabba and in his excitement to run to me, he trips over his own feet. seriously, how can you be sooo dumb and look so adorable at the same time??
anyway, so he gobbles up his meal oops - snack and now its time to play! the lazy dog that he is, his playing field is restricted to ma's bed. come on. don't laugh. he's 14 years old. face totally covered with fur and lacks the power to brake, therefore bumps his furry little head into anything remotely out of place - such as shut doors.
so while he dug for gold under ma's pillow, i couldnt help but laugh at him and wonder how i was scared of him 14 yrs ago when he was 1/4th the size! all of a sudden, he's tired. he's lying down in front of the AC with this tongue stretched out as far as it will go. that's him saying " switch the damn AC on already!". and i, a mere human, meekly comply.
i curl up on the bed, in what my sister calls the "comfortable cat" position preparing to doze but soon i find myself playing tug-of-war with him for pillow space. "spoilt brat", i mutter under my breath. and as i relinquish my position to him, i turn around to look and he's got the most peaceful look i've ever seen (coupled with snores that hardly befit his size!). and i tell myself that if ever there was anything called good karma, he must have had lots of it, coz trust me people, this is ze life!
