bleh!

the lull in the nearly frenzied blog posting has been due to ze problem called PART II. somehow got thru my poetry paper. tho drama was good. had a feeling it would be n it was...though my results ALWAYS prove me wrong....annnnyway. its amazing how predictable CU is. in three years, all of us turn into miniature trade-pundits or astrologers predicting what we're gonna face in our paper. and seldom are we wrong. you can't be, as long as you have the bible for all examinees..the last 10 years papers. god. this sucks. i am so not cut out for this kind of system. i actually believe that studying your text and understanding it is really the best you can do for an exam, and not mug up millions of 20 page answers!

i know i sound snooty and i dont give a damn coz i know i am but before i came to college, i had this starry eyed notion that english literature was a subject for people who knew how to think, analyse and of course most importantly, knew how to read and write and speak the language! but no, who says the language could be a barrier to you actually studying it!
so what if you don't know the difference between say and tell, and always use it at the wrong time?
so what if you don't know how to pronounce "parents"?
so what if you think a college 'fete' is the same thing as your rather unfortunate 'fate'?
so what if you have never heard of words like blase, nincompoop, dyslexic, irk, veto or penultimate?
so what if you think someone 'banging' you means someone's simply 'shouting' at you?
so what if you don't know Keats' first name even the day before your exam?
so what if you study Macbeth and still have to cheat in the exam hall to find out who Bellona's bridegroom is?
so what if you dont know the difference in spelling between angel and angle?
so what if you think you can 'loose' something just the way your pants may be 'loose' for you?
so what if you don't know why it is called The Restoration, The Reformation or even the goddamn Augustan Age?
so what if you thought Ted Hughes was pronounced as 'huge' with an s and Owen was the same as 'oven'?
so what if you think using big words you don't even know the meanings of is your key to the perfect answer?
so what if you think the Romantic Age meant all they wrote was love poetry?
so what if you thought Tennyson created Ulysses?
so what if you don't know who Aristotle or Sophocles or Aristophanes are?
so what if you argued with someone about the actual story of Troy after swooning over Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, and didn't even know what the Iliad was?
so what if you think that having two letters 'v' and 'w' in the English alphabet is utterly pointless because you pronounce 'warm' as 'varm' and have never heard that you must bite your lower lip when you pronounce 'V'?
so what, goddamit, if you didn't even know what Achilles' heel meant?

you still go out into the world and tell people proudly, that you studied english honours. damn.

if you weren't an english student, i would forgive you for all of the above. no seriously i would. am not that much of a snob. but seriously, just mugging up answers which you write after reading a guide more often than actually reading the text and duplicating them word for word, learning up 'points' about Hamlet's character or about why The Twelfth Night is a comedy - really, do you honestly have a deluded belief that you're actually 'good' at English?

enough said. i could go on forever but i think i need to go 'study' for my 'creative writing' paper because you can even predict this i believe. and since i am no good at predicting my fate( no, not fete), i better go consult some of the rather trusted astrologers for now.

haha, that list is soooo hilarious i almost fell off the chair (and if you saw the huge bench-like chair i have, you'd know what i mean). if those types infest your college you can't help being snooty, no? but then, er... wouldn't it be "...didn't even know what iliad was?" or maybe who homer?
